A drop of blood donated, a life to saved

In response to the appeal “a drop of blood donated, a life to saved”, hundreds of students and staff of BDU came together early on April 20th to join in the 21st day of blood donations.

This is a joint program between the school youth league and HCMC-based blood centre of Cho Ray hospital in which 140 units of blood were donated and taken to Cho Ray for storage and follow-up distribution to other hospitals of the Southeastern area.

The school youth league has been mobilizing and conducting this blood-donation program since 2007.  Such an event takes place twice a year, attracting hundreds of students to donate 300 units or more of blood.

The blood-donation for human life rescue has become one of the school youth league’s core programs since 2007.   Many students have given blood up to ten times during their 4-year study period, and even many of the graduates return to the school when notified to join the program again after graduation from their places of work.
